hey guys, i did a demo on this 1512 sq ft roof using a 2 gallon hand pump garden spray with a solution of 6% SH, Gain detergent and water. To complete this job, it will take 12 gallons of SH and 3 bottles of gain detergents.
What do you guys think, any advice for the youngstar
What mix ratio(SH to Water) are you going with? That hand help sprayer and walking on metal is a slip and fall ready to happen no matter how good you are. You'll need to find a dedicated pump, hose and nozzle before you start and then you'll have to rinse, with clear water, the heck out of it.

50/50 ratio. The plan is to use demo to get jobs to help purchase the second generation dual pump... And Yes! i did experience sliding on the roof. It was not a nice feeling..lol..from all my reading here, safety is a priority when it comes to roof cleaning.
here is a 8 roof commercial project am trying to get my hands on;
With such heavy stain, what amount of chemical do you think would be needed to clean just one roof (6500 sq ft)
Way to strong for a metal roof. Try 90% water to 10% sh or what's known as 1%. You can bump it up a little but be extremely careful. Walk before you run.
PS...You need to do more reading.

Because you are using SH that is half the strength of what we typically use, I would pretty much double it. On heavy infested metal we use a 2% mix and double the Green Wash. You just need to do at least a double rinse as well.
Also, if you have to walk the roof...two things...one, please harness off and take a rag with a little gasoline on it and wipe the bottoms of you sneakers with it. This will help them stick to he metal...just a little old roofers trick.

Listen to what these guys are telling you. Keep off the metal roof. They are slippery enough with just water, then add some soap and once you start sliding... you will find the ground quickly. Also... use the mix ratios. What you are using will really clean a bad looking asphalt roof. Build something to spray from the gutter line. Mike DeRose told me that years ago so I built something pretty simple to get going. If you have to walk the roofs stay in the valleys and take John's advice, tie off!
