Is there any stain left?? Be careful that if there is a little stain left to tell the customer any cleaning may result in the remainder coming off, it all depends on your method of cleaning. A 1% mix will clean off any algae and dirt, shouldn't take off any stain, but when you take off the algae it looks bare where stain should have been. Algae and mold use the stain as a food source.

If it graying that is due to the sun's UV rays decaying the wood surface. I would probably consider a light strip followed by applying Oxalic Acid to brighten the wood and bring it back to the proper PH balance.

To strong of a SH mix and you will actually bleach the wood.

We have a new wood softwashing products line coming out next month. Wood Restore will take the place of Ox Acid and Wood Restore has these additional positives that Ox Acid doesnt,

1. Neutralizes Sodium Hypochlorite. (same as Ox Acid)
2. Has a wood conditioner.
3. Has a UV protect-ant.
4. Has additional anti-microbials for keeping the wood clean.
5. High foaming,
6. Can be applied as a bi-yearly maintenance treatment.

So A/c the product line you are coming out with would be used to clean cedar roofs?

Thanks for the advice guys. I gave an estimate using Sodium Percarbonate. The owner doesnt want the deck sealed, IDK why. The property is a winery and there is a vineyard within 100 ft of the decks. We'll see if I get it.

I think Mahogany has a grain like Ipe. The stain on Ipe lasts maybe six months. Maybe the owner doesn't want to get into having to stain it that often. Cheaper in the long run to clean it every few years.

I would clean it the same way we clean IPE. Sodium Percarbonate followed with Oxalic Acid. Once dry I would add an oil finish.

I have a customer who has IPE on all sides of her home. From standard 5/4 decking to T&G on the screen porch. We tried a finish about three years ago but she (and all other customers) doesn't have the patience waiting for it to cure. This product for exotic woods from Rymar Stains takes 90 days to completely cure. There are so many resins and the wood is so hard it takes time to get into the grain. Drag anything across during the curing time will leave a scratch in the finish.

We clean and oil one of her decks every year. Keeping up with it, adding oil makes the job so easy. This woman is a clean freak so we clean the wood play set will there.

I have a 7,000 s/f Cedar siding potentially that right on the water in Hamptons. Typical summer only use.
Already in doing window replacements, just need figure out what to charge, given how far out it is (1 1/2 to 2 + depending on traffic each way) and if they want a sealer and or stain but could be a killer j

It is badly grayed but am already giving an estimate for repairing and repainting exterior windows

I know mold loves the oil stuff. I usually use Woodscapes or duckback from SW.

Yes we have a full line for wood and especially cedar and other wood shake roofs.

Yes samples went out to Pro Staff last week. We should get approval from them within the month.
