I did the same thing a couple of years ago. Local VFW post is next to a park we clean for the city of Tallahassee. We were on site and couldn't help but notice their monument was in need of some attention. We never got a thank you note, but we're still happy to do it to pay our gratitude to our veterans!

When doing these things its best to go though all the channels. I went threw the Chamber and they set it up with the VFW. This monument is part of the county property. The rules state that a VFW member needs to be on site when any work is done. This worked out good for use. He got to see the work in progress and he took a boat load of pics for the VFW site. When they post the pics I will put up a link. The vet also said the Commander was going to give me some kind of commendation for doing this for them. I told them it wasn't needed, but they are very happy and this is what they want to do. I'm going to be doing more of these. Its a small price to pay for all that the vets and servicemen do for our country.

Holbrook Vietnam Monument Gets Clean!

On May 29, 2015 Art Oliveri owner of Clean Rite Exterior Cleaning Service and a Holbrook resident offered his services to clean the Holbrook Vietnam Monument. The monument was professionally cleaned along with the concrete walkways. This was done free of charge. This generous contribution, I have been told, has rendered the walkway and Monument a look very much like its original appearance in 1971. It is remarkable how much grime and discoloration had accumulated over the last 44 years and the blackish walkways are restored to the near color of freshly poured cement.

I'm go to be doing it again as soon as the weather gets warmer. I used One Restore on the Stone and Marble top. I hand scrubbed it so I wouldn't have any Efflorescence problems down the road. The monument was built by a local man who lost his son in the vietnam war. I go over there and help when I can. Cut the grass, apply fertilizer and blow the leaves into the back woods. If you guys decide to do something like this always get permission from the post first. They have their own set of rules that you have to go by. One is they want a Vet or a Military person there to watch over the job. Its important to go by their rules and show respect for the men who served our country.
