 I've found since moving to Florida a lot of people prefer you do not step foot on their tile roofs. So I've been shooting from the roof line but sometimes have a little trouble reaching the peak, even with extensions. I thought the booster pump was for rinsing, but this post suggests you can apply the roof mix as well as rinse. How well do they hold up to the SH? At around 3X the cost of regular roof pumps I would be a little leary to do that.

Been thinking off adding a booster pump lately and if I can safely run SH through it that would make my mind up.

 Jeff - I use my booster pump for spraying mix ( and transferring straight SH) every day. I kill about 4 of them per year - each time one dies it has made me about 70K or more!!!!!!

the nozzle design you showed is very innovative and simple. I guess that is why pictures are worth a thousand words...

Proportioner.com will be up and running in a week or two, but we should be getting a YouTube demo from Paul very soon. I'm pretty sure he is going to demo it with a 12v, 110 booster and a air diaphragm.

Now, do you draw from your bulk water tank or is it fed directly from the customers water tap? Other posts say it turns low water pressure into higher pressure, so that means to me your drawing from the customers tap.....

We're now talking about two different subjects. The ProPortioner has nothing to do with water pressure.....the booster pump is for the increase in both pressure and volume. You can draw from both the house water and the tank.

To use the ProPortioner you need to draw from a water tank so the draw is even with the SH. You just need to install a float stop in the tank and connect directly to house water. This way the tank is always being filled but not overfilled.

Next install a 3 way valve so you can turn the water on directly to the pump and not to the tank (a tee in the line will allow both). This way you can rinse your lines or rinse by boosting the house water pressure and not drawing from the tank (which now needs to be refilled if you draw from it).

But if you can apply SH with it that means it can pull from a dip stick out of your chem tank (or however you have your chem delivery plumbed).....if true then you should also be able to pull from your bulk water tank.

I would not use it for _residential" roof shooting (though I may try again after Tim showed us how he uses the 4 banger tip). Yes it will increase your your reach over the 12v but it puts out too much volume (again, read Tim's notes on this) so you need to be careful.

 

And if my primary intention was to purchase one for shooting farther would that be a good investment?

For me the booster pump is about the rinse and the house wash and for those it is soooooooo worth the investment. Tim came up with the ProPortioner as a time saver but if I had to choose between my booster pump and the ProPortioner.....hands down I'd keep my booster. That thing saves me hours PER JOB since we rinse every roof.

This is a quick change out and we still have a few things to add like the 3way for flushing and his sticker kit. He literally went from washing one afternoon with the 12v mix style setup to the no mix required proportioner system the next morning. I believe Ray is going to add a PW just behind the cab so he opted to use the 100gal tank for water. You could use the 100gal for SH and double run time between fill ups using the 50gal for water. You simply have a variety of options with the proportioner. I'm building a new rig with twin 150gal tanks so I can carry max SH and still have a solid water supply for running proportioner, rinse pump and pressure washer at the same time if needed. The biggest change to me with converting to proportioner/booster system besides never mixing again is the ability to apply and rinse effectively with one line.

I did receive one of the two I ordered but I'm waiting on the second one before I redo my main truck. I'll post my thoughts after I have a chance to put it through a few days of work.....I'm excited about the implications.

The Orlando show was successful and we got a lot of feedback from guys who owned the proportioner. We will be making a few minor changes, nothing functional just stickers. We sold 15 at the show, it seems like more and more people are starting to believe... There are some guys that are still hesitant about purchasing a unit. I wish we could sell them for a few hundred bucks, but they cost a fortune to build the way we build them. They are literally bullet proof and you will never buy another unit because it wears out. Worst case scenario is you rebuild bleach valve after a year or so. If you flush your unit at the end of the day, we really don't know how long it will last... My original valves just keep going, I just washed all day today. I have to go fire it up in the morning, day in and day out it just keeps going. I hope each and every one we have out there makes its owner as happy as I have been.
