Cleaning the moss and ferns from your roof

Moss and ferns growing on your roof can cause irreversible damage but removing them can also cause damage if not done correctly!

Moss and ferns have a root system much like the grass in your front yard. If you pull on the living grass you will pull up the dirt as well since the root system is embedded in the ground. The moss and ferns have a root system that embeds in the protective granules of your roofing system so forcibly removing the moss and ferns will also cause the removal of the granules.

So what should you expect when you have your roof cleaned?

A true professional will kill the moss and ferns then let the rains take care of it from there. See; once the moss and ferns have been fed their fatal dose they will die and dry up. They will become brittle and lose their grip on the granules of the roof and the rains will slowly pick away at them.

Never hire a contractor that says he will have all of the moss or ferns removed the same day!

Call the professionals at Cajun Soft Wash by calling 225-612-5988 and make sure your roof is cleaned correctly.

Speaking of ferns on roofs - here's a roof about 10 minutes from my house! We see this more then you would think up here in the NW...

Real nice Doug, and we'll said!

Brandon, I think that's living eco friendly, the ferns act as natural insulation!
