My first Deck to soft wash!

SH is not recommended for decks,
Careful power wash followed by oxcilic acid (brightiner) scrub off deadwood then rinse with white tip.

SH breaks down the lignin but that's the quick way most do, but if just want to "bleach" it, percarb is the safest way and can be softwashed that way.

Notice the difference between the oxcilic acid tread handrail and the untreated?

The research I have done says to soak the wood down really good and let the fibers soak in all the fresh water, this way all the SH and soap stays on the surface of the wood doing its job. Is that correct?
Just need to know what strength the SH should be at. I'm thinking mild considering what you are saying. Lol

Much depends on what finish is currently on the deck,..if it's raw wood,.Sodium Percarbonate is recommended applied directly at about 6-8 oz. per gallon of water. Or Sodium Hydroxide mixed at 8 to 10 Oz. per gallon of water,.BUT,..applied by DS'ing.

If it's a previously stained deck,.it can be handled by a few different methods,..depending on the age of the stain,..and obviously,..what is being removed,..mold,..oxidized stain,..etc,...

Simply stating deck cleaning is a very generic term,..many variables here.

*Soap can be added to either of the above mentioned,..for dwell time and aid in penetration.
