Fixing the competitions mess.

If you look closely you can see the wand strokes in the oxidation of the vinyl. They did half the house like that before the home owner ran them off.

Do you guys charge extra to fix others messes? Or just roll with it and get good word of mouth advertising?

I mean it's obvious the house needs oxi-wash anyway. Is there anything I can buy local that will take the oxidation off the house?

Jeff spot on.
Never discount for someone else's mess.it's more work to fix someone else's failures.
It's what's known in the industry as "buying a job".
Or taking less money than it costs you to do the job and make a profit.
If a job costs you $1k and someone screws it up you need to chage $1400 to fix do not dofor $800!

For the record,  the Gary W thing is an inside joke for the old members!

I agree either charge regular price if not double for fixing that. I see the wand marks a brush and little elbow grease will fix that

Honestly, I don't care if someone has been there before me. I charge what I need to charge for the job in front of me.

What is "Oxi-Wash".  Don't use anything with the word "oxi" in in for typical siding washing.  Oxi cleaners work well on raw wood,..and that's about it,..and also in the laundry as a chlorine free bleach.

I wouldn't as the label itself states it's designed for use on metal. I'll keep my mouth shut when it comes to SWS.

Oxi anythings base ingredient is "Sodium Percarbonate",..and won't even clean basic mildew on vinyl siding. You said you don't want to scrub,..well that oxi stuff there is gonna NEED scrubbed,..If you were to use that on these wand marks,..you may as well just use water.

Anita,..Please use the detergents and mixes recommended here,..When we tell you what will work,..don't go off on your own trying to re-invent wheel. I doubt you read anywhere on here or that an oxi cleaner would work for oxidation removal. Just because it says "Oxi- Wash" doesn't mean it will clean oxidized siding,..it's named so due to what it is made of,.."Sodium Percarbonate" (AKA Oxygen Bleach) Again,..these cleaners are only effective on raw wood,..not worth using on anything else in our World. Maybe fairly clean awnings?

AND DO NOT MIX IT WITH CHLORINE BLEACH,..YOU WILL MAKE A VOLCANO OF USELESS SOAP.

Make life easier on yourself.

Don't let the PP dry on the windows,..or on anything else for that matter. Do sections you can handle at one time before drying. Good damp or rainy day job.

Another thing,..you will likely have to do the whole side of anywhere there are wand marks,..you can't just remove oxidation on the areas with wand marks,..you will be removing the oxidation to remove wand marks,..so that means all of the oxidation will need removed from at least the side you're working on. So charge accordingly.

SWS is a very mixed bag. Some guys here, that I highly respect, love AC (the owner) and SWS. Other guys, that I also highly respect, will warn you to just stay away and others will just not say anything at all.

Some great advice. It's great to experiment and you need to so that you can find what works best for you. We all have our own style and we all have our own way of doing things but the basic nuts and bolts are pretty close.

We rarely run into this, maybe twice a season, but we have used OxiWash, Guttre Granade and Gutter Zap. All with success and yes all with some scrubbing. We do not downstream or even rinse with pressure washers, so yes it can be done with minimal pressure and minimal scrubbing if you use the right detergents. And when it comes to products, you need to find your niche and stick with it. You also need to carry multiple chems in your arsenal.

We had one years ago that looked way worse than that one. It looked like a monkey took a crayon to the siding. I can't find the pictures and don't have time to look. Two things work. One Restore and Deep Clean from Winsol. The only way to blend it was to apply as usual, then brush from side to side and rinse. Our competitor wanted $800.00 to "blend it" with a PW. We got 450.00 and were finished in less than 2.5 hrs.
