Quick connect sizing

Here's what I do with stainless quick connects.

I buy them and use them,..replace the o-ring as needed.

When they start getting signs of rust I dip them into a solution of oxalic acid and pull them out after about a minute and do not rinse,..just let it sit. The next day the rust will be gone.

After while the stainless will degrade to a more quickly and heavier rusting level,..I then change the rusty one for a new one,..then drop the rusty one into a small container of oxalic and let it sit for awhile,..usually over night.

Doing this will extend the life of quick connects greatly,..and doesn't take much effort.

This also works on the brass,..because the brass also has stainless ball bearings and hat little round retainer clip.

I am considering using a spray bottle and giving them a squirt of oxalic solution after each use from the time the quick connects are new. Neutralizing the SH is the key,..because SH is slippery,..and even when you think you've rinsed with enough water there can still be residual SH left and cause the rusting issue. Even vinegar will work,..all it needs is neutralized,..and a light acid will do that. I think rinsing pumps with a small acid solution before the water rinse would make them last longer as well. But they seem to last long enough as it is.

*I soak my stainless nozzles in an oxalic solution also.

Jeff try lubing them before every use with silicone based lubricant preferably not spray type but drip bottle as sprays tend to have solvents that first swell, then shrink and dry out seals.
Should have to do far less acid baths and longer life.
Never thought of the oxy dip but a good idea to breath some extra life into them.
Good thing of SS is they don't disform as easy as brass when the guys drop them on the concrete or use plyers to get the connects to open. Piss's me off.
