Looks good,.but I felt like I was in a "Ripleys Believe it or Not" entrance tunnel,..you know,..the one that makes you think you're spinning and disoriented Ha,Ha.

Chris, what process did you use and are you putting a protective coating on it?

In the sun it'll Grey over in a few weeks and there are special and specific products you can and cannot use, penetrating oils specifically for ironwoods and definitely not water-based or sealers. Water-based won't even penetrate and sealers will peel.

I've been asked to strip a deck back to original condition will film forming sealers that were blistered and peeling fromy another contractor. NEVER again

We used a product called penofin and yes it will wether in a few months but the customer is aware and wants a regular maintenance on this. We softwashed with a 1% mix then rinsed and applied a very light coat of oxcalic and let dwell for 10-15 minutes the key is not to let the oxy dry keep wet then rinse a lot.

Cool, that's the right way. Hate to see someone else make a mistake with such an expensive decking.
When I advised some industry leaders in IPE penofin was the old standby, now Messemers and some others are superior.
Great that they went for annual maintenance, we do our customers in April may on Long Island and getting a lot more ironwood decks lately, esp in the Hampton's areas right on the Atlantic where the weather is brutal on the barrier beaches.

The great thing about that wood is it's so hard and virtually indestructible. I do recommend the Penofin to anyone cleaning IPE decks it's expensive but it's worth the price.

That reminds me, i did samples on the last flight of stairs leading to beach. I think it was Superdeck, messmers, penofin and cabots Australian timber oil.

Next spring I'll report which held up the best.

I know Art likes Armstrong clark but couldn't get my hands on any locally .
