Horizontal soft wash tanks
Permalink

I recently purchased two 65 gallon horizontal leg tanks and wondering if anyone has had any issues like I just came across. The numbers on the bulkhead do not match. One tank has the 65 Gal. mark on the very top of the bulkhead and the other tank, the 65 Gal. mark is 3" below the other. The numbers are part of the poly tanks (part of the mold when it was poured) so put the tanks on a level surface, I filled 5 gallon buckets, poured them into the tanks and made my own marks.

When I went to get my SH for Soft Washing, one was a roof wash mix the other a house wash mix, they didn't want to fill them because of the inconsistency of the manufactures numbers on the tank. We ended up filling the 2.5 gallon jugs and marking off 5 gallons at a time. It's all good now but just wondering if any of you guys have ever run into this.

The first pic the numbers are over the roll of the tank and really doesn't show how high up on the tank it is because I just took these in the dark but the other is obviously lower and would roughly be around a 5 gallon difference. In a roof mix, the fluctuation between 10 and 15 gallons on a roof with serious algae on it can make a world of a difference.

I have some 55 gallon drums that I used to use when I first started out (free from the local car wash joint with 5 gallon increments) and thinking of filling and them and just transfer what I'm planning on mixing into the 65 gallon tanks for the next day as needed.

Ray Burke called me this afternoon and said the same thing. It's to late to take the bad one back but I have some good marks on the defunct tank from the place I get my SH.

I have three horizontal tanks 40 gals each and they were accurate. This year I have a 250 gal tank, I found out early that it was a pain in the azz to get a legit / accurate reading because 'the jump between each mark is like 25 gallons or so. When it came time to make a small mix 40 gallons or so I was not assured that the amount of water going in was legit. So I set up a 40 gallon tank next to the large one, when making a mix the water comes from the forty gallon tank Guaranteeing me the proper mix.

That's how it goes with these forums, first couple of month its all "hunky-dory". Then the call backs stop... Then the interactive directory maps start.... Then the franchises...
