Versa-MAtic 3/8" pump

Anyone try this pump? Chris Tucker mentioned a while back on RCIA. I am a believer in the All-Flo,..tough to beat,..no doubt about it.

But I may buy one of these $98.00 Versa-Matics and see how it works,..can always be a backup if nothing else,..for $98.00 worth a chance and maybe be a good alternative to the $395.00 All-Flo.

If anyone has used it please chime in.

Jeff

That pump will need to be rinsed after every job were the all flo does not need rinsing.

I have one, it works fine but shot about 3 feet less than my 5850. I've been liking my Fatboy recently which of course shoots further still.

that pump is ok, but i think for 278? you can get the same pump as the all-flow.. Its like the 3rd pump down.. I think they call it the all flow killer.. but for 97 you can't beat it for a backup to the all-flow

I'm not sure but I think I read on the specs the versamatics GPM is less than the All flo and that would would effect the distance.

Yea,..I'm not concerned about rinsing,..my All-Flo got rinsed after every job also,...I have the roof pump plumbed into a hose reel,...so I rinse the hose reel and the hose after every job anyhow,...the roof pump is also plumbed into my fresh water tank,..so with a couple ball valves I can turn the chemical off and turn the fresh water on,..takes about 3 seconds,....I then run the fresh water back into the roof tank as I'm rinsing,...adding water for the next round of roof mix.

Yea the distance was a concern,...flow and speed also,..but distance would be the issue I think Might be ok in a perfect World but,.. the breezes may effect it too much.

its 6.8 gpm... however most of the guys with the all-flow are not running even that through it.. I think we run 3gpm tips to cut down on runoff...

Yea, that's a good point as well,..but I' think flow has to be considered through the whole length of hose 200',..it may make a difference at the nozzle in shooting distance. The all-flo with a 0030 nozzle and  200' of 1/2"  hose is perfect,...not sure how many feet or how much coverage I'm willing to sacrifice?

I would sacrifice a little longevity,..but performance trumps all,..if it's close it may be worth it.

I may buy one and try it before full swing starts,..I don't know.

The money that is made from roof cleaning says just buy the best,...BUT,..no sense being stupid about it,..for one thing always nice to have another option for any of the tools/cleaners we use.

^ once the pump is primed and has a 3.0 gpm tip on it, it is only pumping 3.0 gpm.. The pump is not putting out 9.0 gpm and then adjusting at the tip (the hose would explode)

If you are using a 1/2" hose on the allflo to start with ,you are restricting the pumps capabilities.. All in all I don't think you would be disapointed with the versa pump.. There are a few guys using them already

No,.. the hose would not explode from excess flow,..The excess flow just would not be utilized,...the pump is only capable of,.. I think 120 PSI max,...the hose is rated at 300 PSI,....Pressure is what makes hoses burst.
Yes the hose is restricting,... as has been discussed MANY, MANY times,..but for some 5/8"-3/4" is not worth handling on a regular basis. If you have used this Versa-Matic pump for a season,..I'm all ears on the recommendation,..otherwise,..I'm not listening to you or anyone else's "should" be ok analysis.

I drag a 3/4" hose and it's heavy when full.

0030 is a 30 GPM minute nozzle,..it's about 1/4" orifice,..0003 is 3 GPM.

First Two numbers are pattern,..second two are GPM

Actually just received the Versa-Matic 1/2" poly with santoprene diaphragms/check balls. $285.00 from Klee-Rite. First impressions is quality and heft. Of course performance trumps all,..but I've done quite a bit of research on these pumps and materials since this thread started and seems like quality pumps and workmanship. The Elima-Matic air valve is supposed to be stall free,.hoping it's as good as they say. I hate stalling. The All-Flo rarely stalled,..and once I started using oil once a week it eliminated it completely,...hopefully this Versa-Matic performs equally as well.

We used a Versa-Jet from PW store on our second rig the end of this year and it worked great. It is a continuous pump, 6GPM and cost just over $200 bucks.
